Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic

Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic is a state higher education institution located in Gwanda, Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe, operating from one main campus. Established in 1981 as Gwanda ZINTEC College, the institution was initially created to train temporary teachers through the Zimbabwe Integrated National Teacher Education Course (ZINTEC) model. It was renamed in 2003 in honour of Zimbabwean nationalist and former Vice President Dr. Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo. Today, the polytechnic is a unique two-in-one institution offering both Teacher Education and Technical Education programmes, preparing educators and skilled technicians for national development. Its programmes include Diploma in Education and technical qualifications aligned with industry needs. With ongoing government investment aimed at expanding infrastructure and academic offerings, Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic continues to strengthen its role in developing skilled human capital and supporting innovation, education, and industrial growth in Zimbabwe.
